' Written Cormnumcations 1. Letter from Councilman Biag� re U. S Longshoreman & Harbor- workers Act - U S L.& H Act Councilman Biagi referred to the sub,7ect letter of February 10, 1977 regarding the unfavorable impact of interpretations of the sub�ect Act upon local business, employment, the Port and the financial stability of the City. Councilman Biagt advised that the contents of the letter and his recommendations contained therein were discussed today with Congressman Leo Ryan. MOTION Councilman Rhodes moved, seconded by Councilman Vega, to accept the following recommendations of Councilman Biagi• a that a letter be written stating the ob�ection to the broad interpretation taken by the Department of Labor in regard to who is included in the U S.L & H. Act, and b that a letter be written to the California lnsurance Commission requesting that they delay the rate setting decision under the U S L.& H. Act until a clarification by Washington is handed down as to who will be sub- �ected to perform under the U S L& H Act, and further, ' that copies of both letters be sent to Senators Cranston and Hayakawa, Congressmen Ryan and McCloskey, State Senator Gregorio, Assemblyman Arnett and to the National League of Cities and the League of California Cities. -7- Reg Mtg. 2/14/77
