' (MINUTE ORDER NO 77-39� 2. Communication from City of San Carlos re Nassler Health Home MOTION. Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Biagi, that it be recognized that San Carlos is a sister city and one with which Redwood City has a common interest and that Council supports the desire of the City of San Carlos to retain the Hassler Health Home property as permanent open space in the form of a regional park Discussion followed concerning the need of society for certain types of service facilities which must be located somewhere; whether or not better uses might exist for the Hassler property than as open space; and the des�rability of not foreclosing all possible development of the CHANGE OF MOTION. Councilman Biagi, with the consent of Counc�l- man Norris, deleted the reference to the property as open space and added that the property is within the sphere of influence of the C�ty of San Carlos and its use should be determined by that City working with San Mateo County. It was pointed out that it would not seem appropriate for Redwood , City to endorse purchase of the Hassler property by the Mid Peninsula Regional Park District (MRPD), as urged by San Carlos, at the same time Redwood City is attempting to detach itself from the MRPD because its own voters re,7ected membership in the MRPD; and that the citizens of the City of San Carlos now have the right to purchase the property and make whatever use of it they � choose, if they wish to increase the tax rate in order to do so. MOTION: Councilman Rhodes moved, seconded by Councilman Bury, to table the motion before Council. The motion to table failed on a t�e voice vote. : The motion then failed on the following tie roll call vote: Ayes: Councilman Biagi, Norris and Vice Mayor Barrett Noes. Councilmen Bury, Rhodes and Vega 3. Letter from Mar,7orie Guida re Chope Hospital Comment was made that the decision with regard to dispos�tion of Chope Hospital is a difficult one for the Board of Supervisors and that they have more information available to them on the ' sub�ect than do City Council members. -8- Reg.Mtg. 2/14/77
