�85 <br /> In response to question, Director of Public Works Pusich advised <br /> that the City does about 90% of the weed control in the City, <br /> since property owners usually do not take care of the problem. <br /> f01�1MUNITY DEVELOPMEPIII (pp. 19-28) <br /> , COMMUNITY PLANNING (pp 20-21) <br /> LONG RANGE PLANNING <br /> ' CURRENT PROJECTS PLANNING <br /> In response to question regarding Neighborhood Plans, Planning <br /> Director Schroeter advised that the Planning Commission has laid <br /> groundwork through their neighborhood meetings and intend to re- <br /> spond to neighborhoods which desire to have more definitive <br /> planning. <br /> MOTION• Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Leipzig, <br /> to make it an ob�ective to remove all but the long range planning <br /> goals from the structure of the Planning Comm ssion and to relieve <br /> the Commission of administration of the Zoning Ordinance. <br /> MOTION WITHDRAWN In response to suggestion of Mayor Barrett that <br /> the ob�ective contained in the mot�on would be more appropriate <br /> under the ob�ectives for the City Council which will be reviewed <br /> later under the Legislative PolicY Determination Program (p. 64), <br /> Councilman Norris, with the consent of his second, withdrew his <br /> motion <br /> , COMMUNITY PROMOTION <br /> MOTION Councilman Rhodes moved, seconded by Councilman Biagi, <br /> to reduce the amount of transient occupancy tax contributed to the <br /> San Mateo County Convention and Visitors Bureau to 12% from 15%, <br /> for a reduction of about $2,500 <br /> Discussion followed concerning the fact that some cities do not <br /> make any contribution to the Bureau; that some contributing cities <br /> realize a greater proportion of benefit from the Bureau; the fact <br /> that many hotel, motel and restaurant workers live in Redwood City <br /> although they are employed elsewhere in the County, the desir- <br /> ability of creating employment in the County which benefits resi- <br /> dents of the City, whether or not business should subsidize <br /> the Bureau rather than government, and whether the contribution <br /> should be cut or eliminated. <br /> MOTION WITHDRAWN In view of Mr Fales'statement that he would <br /> obtain information as to how much other contributors to the Bureau <br /> pay, Councilman Rhodes, with the consent of his secon(�� t5�8� <br /> his motion <br /> , <br /> _5_ Budget Study <br /> 5/6/78 <br />
