Dinkin <br /> commented and replied to questions concerning the maintenance programs <br /> with regard to sewer laterals and sidewalks, whether or not they shauld <br /> be offered at cost by the City; if it is possibie for the City to provide <br /> such servtces through user fees; whether there is any private business <br /> offering such services and the likely high cost; the fact that the City <br /> will continue such to ma�ntain the mains so that most difficulties will <br /> be in the laterals which are the responsibility of the property owners, <br /> although they are presently being maintained by the City; the desir- <br /> ability of continuing the City's maintenance program at a small charge <br /> to all property owners. <br /> MOTION Councilman Chandler moved that the sewer lateral maintenance � <br /> ' and sidewalk maintenance programs be continued on a user fee basis <br /> �f it can be determined that the programs can be offered on �he income <br /> from such fees. <br /> MOTION WITHDRAWN Upon advice of City Manager Fales that the City must <br /> base its budget on ava�lable funds and cannot predict what income from <br /> the user fees might be, Councilman Chandler withdrew his motion. <br /> Ron Soucy inquired as to the recourse of a property owner who employs <br /> a private plumber to repair a sewer lateral and learns that the problem <br /> is with the ma�n. It was pointed out that citizens can call to ask <br /> to have the ma�n checked before employ�ng anyone. <br /> MOTION.
