Councilman Rhodes moved, seconded by Councilman Bury, to � <br /> V restore one Building Maintenance Worker I to the Parks Department. <br /> Parks Senior Craft Worker commented concerning the increasing vandalism <br /> in parks and urged the Council to increase the crew which handles repairs. <br /> Comment was made that if changes are to be made Council should �ncrease <br /> Yhe funds in the program and let mana9ement determine how the funds <br /> should be spent in �mplementing the program. <br /> SECOND WITHDRAWN. Councilman Bury withdrew his second and the motion <br /> died <br /> (Cou�cil recessed from 12.00 Noon to 2:10 p m) <br /> Gayle Southworth, Research Director for Local 715, SEIU, referred to h9�s <br /> press release suggesting more funds are available to the City than <br /> appears to be the case Mr. Southworth acknowledged that his informa- <br /> tion was based on the 1976-1977 Annual Budget which was presented in a <br /> different format than used 7n 1977-T8 or 1978-79. <br /> City Manager Fales, Director of Finance Ference and Council members <br /> pointed out that Mr. Southworth's press release does not consider budget- <br /> ing for overtime, halidays, casual help, parttime help, etc., and ' <br /> criticized his failure to investigate public budget documents or make <br /> inquir�es of C�ty staff before issuing his press release. <br /> M07ION� Counc7lman Chandler moved that since the press rel�ase is on <br /> Local 715 SEIU stationery that organization evidently supports the remarks <br /> contained therein, and that, if SEIU sincere7y believes that the funds <br /> 'S' Budget <br /> Study <br /> �;17!7�° <br />
