Hardwick detailed the background of the L+nvironmen[al Management Task Force <br /> explaining that no o[her attempt had been made to solve those regional problems and by <br /> having locally elected officials meet together, as a body, this Task Force has made an <br /> atte�[ to come up with some type of a solution that local communities vnll accept, that <br /> would still attain the environmental quality that EPA feels that the Cities and Counties <br /> ' should have [o meet the standards and then maintain triose standards once they are met <br /> He explained that a,$4 3 million dollar grant has becn provided by the EPA to fund [he <br /> program and ABAG has mv come up q�ith a draft of an + nvironmen[al Managemen[ Plan [hat <br /> a9dresses the four basic categori{s Water Quali[y� Solid Waste, Water Supply and Air <br /> Qnulity [hat will meet the State and Federal environmental manda[es He outlined [he <br /> r�view and approval schedule ci[ing the fact that April 6th was the date for ABAG'� <br /> General Assembly Final Debate and Action on the Environmental Management Program <br /> Reaponding to an inquiry ftom Mayor Kilburg, Mr Hardwick explained that a"club is <br /> being held over our heads" and if the Cities and Countles do not attain the standards <br /> that have been established by the EPA, all Fedetal Aid will be cu[ off, if/or that is <br /> lacking, the EPA will establish what the Cities and Counties muet do He pointed ou[ [hat he <br /> � represents the Cities of San Mateo County and Supervisbr Fred Lyon represents the County of <br /> i San Mateo,that Vern Henderson ie the tepresen[ative wiih the Mid Peninaula Fair ttousing, <br /> Paul Reimer represents the Bay Area Council, Chet Holcolmb represen[s Labor from <br /> San Mateo County so there are five members of the Task Force tha[ are ac[ually in <br /> San Mateo County.
