They have been referred to <br /> Counc�l for cons�deration in accordance with Counctl direction mzde <br /> at the February 6 Budget Study Session that all vacant positions be <br /> referred to Council <br /> MOTION. Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Barrett, <br /> to approve the filling of the Senior Accountant pos�tion in the <br /> Finance Department as of March 1, 1978, as previously approved. <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> (MINUTE ORDER N0. 78-40) ' <br /> MOTION Councilman Barrett moved, seconded by Councilman Vega, to <br /> approve the hiring of a police officerat the second salary step. <br /> The motion carr�ed unanimously by voice vote. <br /> (MINUTE ORDER NO 78-41) <br /> Mayor Le�pztg stated that each of the positions listed in the depart- <br /> ment reports will be considered separately in the order presented <br /> MOTION Counc�lman Barrett moved, seconded by Councilman Uega, that <br /> the position of Lead Dispatcher in the Police Department be filled. <br /> The rr�otion carried unanimously by vo�ce vote <br /> (MINUTE ORDER N0. 78-42) <br /> MOTION Councilman Rhodes moved, seconded by Councilman Vega, to <br /> place a hiring freeze on the position of Fire Operations Manager <br /> in the Fire Department. <br /> In response to question, City Manager Fales stated that both the level <br /> of supervision and overtime would be affected by the lack of a Fire <br /> Operations Manager which would cause considerable strain on effective <br /> department correnand structure. <br /> Discussion foliowed coi�cerning whether needed positions should be ' <br /> left unfilled because of possible economic reasons, the fact that <br /> the position is approved and authorized and has been vacant because <br /> o� illness of the incumbent, the fact that Council has already <br /> Reg.Mtg. , -3- t <br /> 2/13/7S <br /> � , e <br />
