Other Positions" dated Febriaary 10 and , attach�ng report from the Chief of Police dated February 9, report fram F�re Chief dated February 10, three reports from the Director of Parks and Recreation dated February 9; re- port from the Building Official dated February 9, and two reports from the Director of Public 4Jorks dated February 9. Mr. Fales adv�sed that all of the positions mentioned in the repnrts are presently authorized and necessary. They have been referred to Counc�l for cons�deration in accordance with Counctl direction mzde at the February 6 Budget Study Session that all vacant positions be referred to Council MOTION. Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Barrett, to approve the filling of the Senior Accountant pos�tion in the Finance Department as of March 1, 1978, as previously approved. The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. (MINUTE ORDER N0. 78-40) ' MOTION Councilman Barrett moved, seconded by Councilman Vega, to approve the hiring of a police officerat the second salary step. The motion carr�ed unanimously by voice vote. (MINUTE ORDER NO 78-41) Mayor Le�pztg stated that each of the positions listed in the depart- ment reports will be considered separately in the order presented MOTION Counc�lman Barrett moved, seconded by Councilman Uega, that the position of Lead Dispatcher in the Police Department be filled. The rr�otion carried unanimously by vo�ce vote (MINUTE ORDER N0. 78-42) MOTION Councilman Rhodes moved, seconded by Councilman Vega, to place a hiring freeze on the position of Fire Operations Manager in the Fire Department. In response to question, City Manager Fales stated that both the level of supervision and overtime would be affected by the lack of a Fire Operations Manager which would cause considerable strain on effective department correnand structure.
