. a <br /> 3 6 3� <br /> � <br /> � REQUEST FOR INFORMATION• Councilman Norris requested that Counc�l � <br /> be provided a list of City employees who will be retiring during the <br /> 1976-77 budget year Mr Fales said it wquld be possible to provide ' <br /> the requested list, but not a statement regarding PERS status of <br /> employees because of the length of time required to obtain any in- <br /> � format�on from PERS (memo 5/11/76 � <br /> Account No 410 was approved as submitted. <br /> , <br /> City Manager - Account No 570 (Corrmunity Promotion) (pp. �`L-13) �` <br /> ,,t It was pointed out that at the recent Lea9ue of Caliform s Cities <br /> � Institute for New Mayors and Councilmen it was stated that Council <br /> members who are members of their local chambers of coimnerce should <br /> not vote on items relating to the chamber even though the Council <br /> member did not serve as an officer or board member of the chamber. 9 <br /> Concern was expressed since a ma�or�ty of the Council members are � <br /> ' also members of the Chamber of Commerce. <br /> MOTION Councilman Bury moved, seconded by Councilman Biagi, to <br /> withhold consideration of the allocation to the Chamber of Comnerce <br /> pending advice from the City Attorney regarding whether Council mem- <br /> bers who are members of the Chamber of Commerce may vote on the item <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote <br /> City Manager Fales called attention to the letter from Peninsula � <br /> Celebration Association (PCA) of May 5, 1976 which was d�stributed <br /> � to Council members today and which requests the following items to <br /> be included in the City's 1976-77 Budget Miss Redwood City Pageant - <br /> $1000, July 4th Fireworks -$2000, Bicentennial Celebration -$5000, <br /> totaling $8000 <br /> (The City Council recessed from 10 40 to 10�48 a m.) <br /> • Councilman Barrett advised that he had talked with City Attorney <br /> , Schr�cker during the recess and Mr Schricker had advised that it is ({ <br /> �" his,opinion that members of the City Council who are members of the � <br /> Chamber of Commerce may vote on the budget item relating to the ,� <br /> Chamber. . . <br /> a <br /> Pete Hughes, 285 Woodside Drive, Woodside, President of PCA, referred <br /> to his letter (see above) and explained his budget request � <br /> MOTION Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Barrett, that Y <br /> in light of the Bicentennial Year Celebration and the Miss Redwood J <br /> City Pageant that the budget allocation to Peninsula Celebration (See Paye � <br /> Association be increased to a total of $5,000, which is an increase 390) <br /> of $3,000 over the amount contained in the Recommended Budget for <br /> 1976-77, with the additional $3,000 to be used wherever PCA con- <br /> siders appropriate <br /> ' In response to question, Mr Hughes described the activittes of PCA <br /> and commented on the thousands of hours volunteered by members of <br /> service clubs and other organizations in connection with those <br /> activities in the community <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
