Liquefaction The last sentence in the second paragraph on page F-16 should be improved by being reworded as follows "Extensive testing for this factor has been carried out in Redwood Peninsula and Bair Island since 1965, and it can be concluded that soils materials there , should remain stable under conditions of strong seismic shaking and that the occurrence of liquefaction is highly unlikely " u 4. Pages F-14 through F-17 were meant to be illustrative examples pointing the direction toward the accompltsh- ment of the second and third specific goals listed on page F-13 The contents of the illustrative examples, taken by themselves, will not stand up under scrutiny. For example, the map on page F-17 represents the "seismic intensity and level of hazard" for a single occurrence of the same magnitude and at the same epicenter as the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. This certainly does not cover the field sufficiently to evaluate the "level of hazard" from seismtc occurrences in a responsible manner. Since the examples are so easy to misinterpret, and since it would be virtually impossible to label them so that they wouldn't be misconstrued by someone, pages F-14 through F-17 should be removed at this time, along with the parenthetical references to them on page F-13, to be replaced at some future time with the actual products called for in the two specific proposals mentioned on page F-13. � The motion carried unanimously by roll call vote. In response to question, City Attorney Schricker advised that Chapter V. of the Plan may be referred to staff for additional in- formation at this time and adopted later, but will remain part of the public hearing process which has taken place on the Plan. Open Space Element, page D-16 under "5 Proposals", item g"Leave Stulsaft Park, as much as possible, in its natural state" be deleted ADDITION TO MOTION Councilman Williams, with the consent of h�s second, added that on page D-17 in the item relating to Stulsaft Park, "leave natural" be stricken, and "study" used in its place The motion with the addition carried unanimously by voice vote.
