4�7�2 <br /> MOTION Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Biagi, to <br /> authorize conversion of the proposed mercury vapor lights on E1 <br /> Camino Real to the use of high pressure sodium vapor lights <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> � (MINUTE ORDER N0. 76-199) <br /> Report re Peninsula Humane Society ' <br /> City Manager Fales referred to his report of July 7, 1976 regarding <br /> the request from the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County for <br /> an op�nion on increasing dog license fees and amending existing animal <br /> control agreement to allow for the 100� distribution of animal control <br /> fines to the County Mr Fales said no specific decisions regarding <br /> the animal control program are required now. <br /> Discussion followed and Mr. Fales and Assistant City Manager Smith <br /> corrrnented and replied to questions concerning the animal control pro- <br /> gram, the closing of the Redwood City shelter, the problems for dogs <br /> and their owners caused by failure of owners to obtain licenses for <br /> thetr dogs, the �ustification for the penalty for delinquency in <br /> obtaining proper licenses, the desirability of increased level of <br /> service by the Society, the probability of the use of selective en- <br /> forcement to obtain compliance in the County, and the basis on which <br /> fines will be split <br /> James Smith 543 Scott, stated he does not believe the SPCA provides <br /> an�adequate level of service and suggested an audit of the funds <br /> assigned to them. Assistant City Manager Smith explained that the <br /> County audits funds on a,regular basis and funds for buildtng are ' <br /> from the Society and are not from funds for operation <br /> MOTION Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Vega, that <br /> the City Council reply to the Board of Supervisors in terms of the <br /> context of the report of the City Manager of July 7, 1976 regarding <br /> their request for an opinion. <br /> � <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote <br /> (MINUTE ORDER NO 76-200) <br /> Consent Calendar <br /> Vice Mayor Barrett called attention to the Community Information Re- <br /> port on the Consent Calendar and commended Adam Gee, Traffic Engineer, <br /> and his wife, Sue, on receiving the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod <br /> Parochial School System's "National Parent of the Year" Award <br /> Vice Mayor Barrett also called attention to the portion of the Report <br /> relating to continued vandalism at Redwood Shores relating to the <br /> salt water tntrusion test pro�ect being conducted in preparation for <br /> the construction of new parks in that area Park constructton must <br /> continue to be delayed until final decisions can be made with regard <br /> to the salt water intrusion problem � <br /> City Manager fales also commented on the vandalism experienced at the ' <br /> test site, noting that the continual destruction of public property <br /> - 6- <br /> Reg.Mtg. <br /> 7/12/76 <br />
