FERNANDO VEGA ' Ad�ourned Meeting The Council of the City of Redwood City met on this date in an adjourned meeting, called to order at 4:20 p m. by Mayor pro tem Rhodes in the temporary absence of Mayor Leipzig and Vice Mayor Barrett, for a �oint meeting of the City Council and the Planning Comnission to discuss matters of mutual interest. , Rotl Call Councilmen present: Biagi, Bury, Rhodes, Vega (Barrett and Mayor Leipzig entered the �eting at 4:26 p.m.) Councilmen absent: Norris Planning Comnissioners present• Guida, Johnson, Kathmann, Murphy, Price, Smith Planning Comnissioners absent: Schenck Officials and staff present• City Manager Fales, Assistant City , Manager Smith, City Attorney Schricker, Assistant City Attorney Maloney, Planning Director Schroeter, Director of Public Works Pusich and Deputy City Clerk Reggetts Planning Comnission Chairrt�an Murphy welcomed the newly appointed Planning Comnissioners Kathmann and Smith Format for Comniss�on Reports to City Council It was noted that inclusion of this item had been initiated by re- quest of the Council. Comnents by Council included concerns as to the volume of material that must be gone through, much of which was repetitive and was comprised of the pertinent extracts from one to as many as several sets of Planning Commission minutes, making it ' dtfficult to get to the heart of the issue. The suggestion of i util�zing the digest of the conclusions of the�Cortmission, elimi- nating the dialogue and detail was discussed at length and comrnents i involved belief of the Coimmssion that it would be inappropriate to delete testimony from its reports, particularly in the case of i appeal; the alternative of having such digests prepared by staff, � the kinds of information that might be included in such a digest, � such as references in the summary to specified minutes, and a simple condensation of the ultimate determination of the Commission. � Planning Director Schroeter expressed some apprehension with regard � to the sug9estion that staff prepare the digest, citing as an example Joint Mtg. w/Planning 7/19/76 ,..,.. ------ - - ._ �: <<. _ ._ �.v,�
