Approval of Tentative Map, 714 Canyon Road <br /> (Stekoll Development Corporation) <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote <br /> (MINUTE ORDER NO 76-24) <br /> Written Comnumcations <br /> 1 Letter from Civil Hidalgo re soccer fields <br /> Mayor Weymouth announced that because of the large number <br /> of young people present who are interested in the sub�ect , <br /> letter, the matter will be considered out of order at this <br /> time In response to request of Mayor Weymouth, City Clerk <br /> Hildebrand read the sub�ect letter. <br /> Salomon Bustos 544 Seventh Avenue, Menlo Park, President <br /> of Los Aguilas Soccer Club, asked some of the boys present <br /> to display trophies won by the soccer clubs from the Redwood <br /> City area, observing that local clubs have played in Canada, <br /> Oregon and San Diego in tournament play Mr Bustos re- <br /> ferred to the sub�ect letter and expressed the desire of <br /> the soccer teams for additional soccer fields, noting that <br /> the fields must be lighted and are needed so that both <br /> practice and games may take place at the same ttme. In <br /> response to question, Mr Bustos acknowledged that the <br /> soccer seaso� runs from September until June, overlapping <br /> both football and baseball seasons when fields for those <br /> sports are also required Mr Bustos suggested that there <br /> is discrimination against his cor�enunity in that sufficient <br /> soccer fields are not made available and commented on the <br /> need for desirable recreation for youth in the low income <br /> community <br /> It was pointed out to Mr Bustos that although Redwood Ctty <br /> has provided fields for soccer for the teams with which Mr <br /> Bustos is associated, the County of San Mateo is responsible , <br /> for recreation facilities in the unincorporated area of the <br /> County and suggestion was made that Mr Bustos and his groups <br /> -2- <br /> Reg.Mtg <br /> 1/26/76 <br />
