Approval of Tentative Map, 714 Canyon Road (Stekoll Development Corporation) The motion carried unanimously by voice vote (MINUTE ORDER NO 76-24) Written Comnumcations 1 Letter from Civil Hidalgo re soccer fields Mayor Weymouth announced that because of the large number of young people present who are interested in the sub�ect , letter, the matter will be considered out of order at this time In response to request of Mayor Weymouth, City Clerk Hildebrand read the sub�ect letter. Salomon Bustos 544 Seventh Avenue, Menlo Park, President of Los Aguilas Soccer Club, asked some of the boys present to display trophies won by the soccer clubs from the Redwood City area, observing that local clubs have played in Canada, Oregon and San Diego in tournament play Mr Bustos re- ferred to the sub�ect letter and expressed the desire of the soccer teams for additional soccer fields, noting that the fields must be lighted and are needed so that both practice and games may take place at the same ttme. In response to question, Mr Bustos acknowledged that the soccer seaso� runs from September until June, overlapping both football and baseball seasons when fields for those sports are also required Mr Bustos suggested that there is discrimination against his cor�enunity in that sufficient soccer fields are not made available and commented on the need for desirable recreation for youth in the low income community It was pointed out to Mr Bustos that although Redwood Ctty has provided fields for soccer for the teams with which Mr Bustos is associated, the County of San Mateo is responsible , for recreation facilities in the unincorporated area of the County and suggestion was made that Mr Bustos and his groups -2- Reg.Mtg 1/26/76
