261 also address their remarks to the Board of Supervisors who are now considering their recreation program from a planning per- spective City Manager Fales advised that the City must make a distinction as to where its resources go He observed that the City has ' been very effective in stretching its limited funds to meet the athletic needs of the people in the cortrtnunity and that many who do not live in the City have benefitted from the available facilities. Mr. Fales stated that programs and financing have to be allocated for those who are residents of Redwood City and that other ,7urisdictions must provide for recreation needs of their residents, although Redwood City is willing to cooperate wherever possible He suggested that since the team members state that they ltve primarily in the unincorporated area of the County known as East Redwood City that the Board of Super- visors is the proper agency to approach with a request for addi- tional recreation facilities for the area. � Discussion followed and Council members comnented concerning the inability of the City to provide recreation faciltties for areas outside the City and the possibility that the Board of Supervisors who govern the unincorporated area may be able to provide for sports in that area Joel Bustos, 1040 Henderson, Menlo Park, resident of the un- incorporated area of the County, asked that if the sub�ect letter is referred to the Park and Recreation Commission, the following be considered: 1) the of the turf at Hoover School, 2) that the field at the Community Park on Roosevelt is not available for soccer since it has been reseeded; and 3) that the ' turf at Hawes Park needs reseeding. There being no ob,7ection, Mayor Weymouth ordered the letter of January 16, 1976 from Amador Bustos of Civil Hidalgo, relating , to soccer fields referred to the Park and Recreation Commission and to staff for investigation and report. Mayor Weymouth ad- vised that when the report is prepared, Mr. Bustos will be advised.
