The motion was
seconded by Councilman PdcNulty and passed unanimously on roll call, Council-
man Granger as!zing that the records ahov that it wa.s his intent to try to
give the employees the rar bonus. City Attorney TdcCarthy advi sed him he did.
' not believe there ras any commitment on his p,rt. City TYtanager 1Read advised
that insmuch as the ordinance tvould not be passed until the 16th of Jul.y,
which is one day after the regular pzy day, the employees iould not receive the
nar bonus in their next check but that arrangements could be made to iesue
special checks to cover the vrar bonus.
Councilm,n Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman P.QcPdulty, that the aba.tement gmo-
• ceedins on the Rice, Hollebauh, Banta,Buhler, Roberte, Ecicerle and Klang
properties be continued. to the first meeting in August. Under the question,
City tdanager Mead-advised thz.t the Klang abatement proceedings we^e being held
over from month to month on the condition th.-^,t the buildin wa rerted to a
real estate agent. He said there vas a contractor in the building at the
present time but tha.t no permit had been issued to him to do businese. Council-
' man Granger ettted tha,t insmuch as Mr. Klang had not kept his promise he vould
be willing to o ahead tiaith the abatement prroceedins. Councilman Andereon
amended his motion to exclude the Kla..ng pronert.y and_ then restated his motion
so that the above abatement proceedings tivith the exception of the Klang pro-
ceedings be placed on the agenda for the first meeting in Aueust, seconded by
Counci3manr;HQcNulty. 4.2otion passed unanimously.
Councilman Gr2nger moved the necess proceedings on the Kla.n property be insti-
tuted, seconded by Councilman PhcNulty. Under the uestion, Councilman Arm-
• strong asked the reeson for the oppoaition, aeking if it +J.s felt the _type of
• business noea there was more obJectionable than a real estte firm, atatin he
did not believe there was a grat deal of difference between a contractors
busineea and a real estate firm. It was the opinion of Councilmen Graner and
LlcNulty that M1r. Klang had broken his promise by rentinR to someone other than
, the real estate agent. Councilman Crranp,er said it ha.d alwzys been the ntent
of the Council to abate this building. Councilman Andereon also belie, ved that
ir. Klang had failed live up to his agreement. Councilma,n Britschgi believed
that Pnr. Klang should be ordered to 2ppear before the Council to show cause r+hy
' the building should not be abated. Councilman And.erson asked tivhat the status
oY the abatement proceedins vould be if the motion before the Cauncil should
pass. City Attorney PdcCarthy replied tnat a reolution should be adopted which
vould allov Pdr. Klang thirty d,ys to make redress.
