August 29th. The motion was seconded by <br /> Councilman Granger an�l passed unanimously. <br /> ' City Clerk Dodge read communication from City Manager Robert ��. IHeed in which he <br /> aubmitted his resignation to the Coixncil.due to the differencea which had <br /> erisen t etween members of the Council and himself. He stated that inasmuch <br /> as the final budgot wae in the process.of preparation he would, if the <br /> Council desired, remain on active duty until August 20. He also.asked that <br /> any vecation time due him be granted him and that hia resignation become <br /> • effective iimnediately thereafter. Councilman Arnstronb stated that ineamuch <br /> - as h� had intended to introduce a resolution declarin� the office of city <br /> maneger vacant he moved that the Council accept Mr. Mead�s rosignation effec- <br /> tive as of this date and that he be paid such salary and vocation allowance <br /> and pay as in the opinion of the City Attorney is due him. Ho asked for a <br /> roll csll vote in the event of a second to the motion. Councilman qnderson <br /> secondod the motion. On roll call the motion passed unanimously. <br /> ' Councilman Granger introduced a resolutior. direating the mayor to approve all <br /> demands and clsaims a�ainst the city as set forth in Section 59 of the Charter. <br /> • 2'he motion was aeconded by Councilman MeNulty and pessed unenimously on roll <br /> call. <br /> Councilman Britschgi moved that the mayor be instructed to notify all omployees <br /> of the city who are now mainteining a residence outaide of the city that if <br /> they are not bona fide residents oi' the city by the next meeting that he will <br /> • ask for their resignation. Councilman Anderson asked that the wording be <br /> changed from °bona fide'� to "actual residents". Councllman �3ritsch�i accepted <br /> the amendment. Councilman Anderson aeconded the motion. Council�n 1dcNulty <br /> asked if that incl�r]ed all city employees and Councilman Britsch�i said he had <br /> in mind the Port �anager and also the Head I,ibrarian. City ;9ttorney Pt[cCarthy <br /> ' advised that he was not sure whether the Council had ,juriadiction over these <br /> two employees but that he would check into tho matter. The motion passed <br /> unanimously. <br /> 1dr. 9lfred Morton, Director of Recreation, sddressed the Council and <br /> said that he was one of the employees who was living out of the city limita. <br /> ' He explained that he had been evicted twice from homea in town and ttm t he was <br /> unable to build a home. He as]ced that the !Council meet in an informel meeting <br /> with those employees who live out of the city and see if some aolution could <br /> not be reached. <br /> • <br />
