McCarthy divided his time be- <br /> tcaeen Council �eeting and Planning Commiesion. Absent: Councilrnen: C. C, <br /> Armstrong and C. A. Britschgi. <br /> � hayor Hilton explained�,the purpose of the special meeting v�hich tivas to consider <br /> � petition presented by the residents of the area from Kentfield, Pdoodside Road <br /> , Valota Road to Redv�ood Ave., objecting to the action of the Board of Super- <br /> visors, County of San �?ateo, to locate Juvenile Horne in the vicinity. 8everal <br /> residents of tne area, led by Mr. E. P, Fletcher, appeared to speak a.gainst . <br /> the project. <br /> City Attorney r,?eCarthy gave tentati�e opinion to the effect that tne County had <br /> ' the right to cor.demn property within the City for County purnoses. He also <br /> called atten+ion to the zoning ordinance i^ahich permitted the erection of <br /> ,"municipal buildings" in a first residential area, under v�hich c�tegory he <br /> believed the Juvenile Horne would clasaify. <br /> Councilmen Granger and hSeNult,y rovere both of tne o�inion the petition should be <br /> presented to the Planning Comr:2iasion for their consideration and recommenda- <br /> tion, as did Councilman i9erder. <br /> � Councilman Gra.nger moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty that the matter be re- <br /> . ferred to Planning Commission. Motion paesed unanimously. <br /> � Request for permission to hold rummaae sale May 15, lo and 1'7th vaas gr�,nted to <br /> Sisternood Ternple, Beth Jacob of Menlo Park on motion of Councilma.n �Ierder, <br /> , seconded b� Councilman Sweft and unanimously carried. <br /> 1 City R4anager Blo:n discussed the necessity of making certain alterations and re- <br /> pairs in and a.round the City Hall, also expenditures approximating �p400,00 <br /> irnproving ligiZting of' Ha�res Pa.rk and dirt fill, suggesting that these expen- <br /> ditures oe paid for out of the Post-i4'ar Fund, After discussion, Councilman <br /> , Gra.nger rnoved, seconded by Councilma.n 4';erder, tha.t tne City Ha11 item be <br /> paid from unbudgeted Reserve and the H�tiaes Park items from Post-��ar Funds. <br /> D!otion carried unanirnously: <br /> City r?anager submiited for discussion map covering proposed changes in grade of <br /> Valota Roa.d at Vera Avenue.
