Augustus, representing the United Spanish <br /> �Jar Veterar.s, and addressed to City r,4anaoer Blom making application for per- <br /> mit to ee issued to the Foley & Hur.� Carnival Shows for the period June 17th <br /> to June 22nd inclusive. Councilman Arrnstrong rnoved the ap:olication be <br /> gra.nted suoject to proper payment of the fee before the show operates, seC- ' <br /> onded by C;ouncilman Gra.nger. Under the question, Councilman Gr�nger asked <br /> that tne concessions oe checked so tnat the city received the revenue due it. <br /> City �.4anager 31orn advised that both the field tax collector and the oolice <br /> department would check, D�otion passed unani�ously. <br /> Cornmunication was received frorri the St�.te of California Veterans' Weliare Board <br /> petitioning for the concellation of taxes,a.gainst Lot 27 as designated on <br /> the rnap entitled "Pellarin Court Redwood City, California". Councilman • <br /> Granger vigorously opposed the cancelling of such taxes just because an indi- <br /> vidual has a contract veith tne State u+elfa,re Boa.rd. He believed the property <br /> should snoti+ a lien abainst it for taxes even though the State �1Jelfare Board <br /> held the title. City Attorney McCarthy advised tha.t when the title i� in <br /> the State the City has no alternative but to cancel the taxes as requested, , <br /> Councilman 1`�erder moved tha,t the matter be tabled and the City Sttorney con- <br /> tact otner cities as to the method they follow, however, City Attorney <br /> �ScCarthy stated tna.t the ma.tter had been before the Council some time ago <br /> and tha.t it vras his opinion that there was nothing the Council could do but ' <br /> to grant the cancellation. Councilman Britscngi moved, seconded by Council- <br /> ma.n 1'Jerder, that tne request for cnacella.tion of taxes against Lot 27 of <br /> Pellarin Court, Redv;ood City oe gra.nted in line witn the City Attorney's <br /> ruling. The rnotion na�sed with Councilman Granger voting in the negative. <br /> Communication Vas received from �Irs. �. P.
