<br /> WHEREA3, an_.anplication avas heretofore made to the Planning Commission
<br /> of the City of Redwood_City by the owner of the real_ property.hereinaYter
<br /> described, to rezone eaici propertp from the 3econd Residental Diatrict Zone
<br /> to Busineas District Zone and notice of a public hearing thezeon was given
<br /> by_ order of said Planning Commisaion for the time and in the manner required
<br /> by Ordinance No. 460 of this City, and such public hearing was held at the
<br /> regular meeting of said Planning Commission on May_14, 1946, and
<br /> ' ,.. �YHEREAB, said Planning Commission has not made any recommendation with
<br /> respect to said application, but this bity Council has found that there are
<br /> exceptional and extraordinary cirewnstance applying to eaid property whiCh
<br /> �ustify the granting of a variance the use of said property for resi-
<br /> dential purposes; that the granting of an application for a variance in the
<br /> use of said property for business is neceaeary for the preservation and
<br /> enjoyment of substanttal property rights oY petitioner; and that the grant-
<br /> ing of such application will not, under the circ,aanstancee of thia case,
<br /> ' materially effect adversely the health or safety of peraons residing or
<br /> working in the neighborhood of said property of the applicant and will not,
<br /> under the circumstances of this case, be materially detrimental to the
<br /> publ3c welfare, or injurioue to property or improvements in the neighbor-
<br /> ' hood of said property.
<br /> The property herein referred to is particularly described as followe:
<br /> That certain real property situated in the City of Redwood Citp, Countq
<br /> �.- of San Mateo; State of California, particularly descrtbed sa follows:
<br /> ' Lota 21 and 22 in.Block 3 ae shown on that certain map entitled
<br /> � "Map of Redwood Highlands Redwood City, 8an Mateo County, California"
<br /> fi3ed in the office of the County Recorder of said county and etate
<br /> on August 20, 1913, in Book 9 of Mapa at pages 6 and 7.
<br /> RESOLVED, by thia C1ty Council that said property be not rezoned to
<br /> Business Diatrict Zone, but that a variance in the use of said property for
<br /> retail bueinese be granted upon condition that before the ieeuance of any
<br /> permit for the improvement of eaid property or the erection of any struc-
<br /> ture thereon by the Buildin� Inspector of thie City, a plan of such building
<br /> or buildings proposed to be erected thereon showing floor plan; front ele-
<br /> vation, �side elevation on Arch 9treet, and speclfications as to the exterior
<br /> of such proposed building be first submitted to thie City Council for ite
<br /> examination, modification and approval or dieapproval, and that no struc-
<br /> ' ture or building be erected upon said lot other than in accordance with euch
<br /> plana and epecifications as may be approved by this City Council; further,
<br /> that said property be used ezclusioely for retail bueiness or reeidental
<br /> purposes; further, that such plans and epecifications may be submitted at
<br /> any time within one year fTOm thia date, subject to a further extension of ,
<br /> such time upon reasonable ahowing of the propriety thereoY.
<br /> The above and foregoing Reeolution wae paeaed and adopted by the City
<br /> Qouncil of the C1tq of Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof held on
<br /> the 17th da.y of June, 1946, by the followin� vote:
