Mr. Mann of the Land Department reported that <br /> the matter wae etill under investigation, The matter was ordered placed <br /> ' on tne agenda. <br /> In regard to tne diecussion of tne amendment of tne zoning ordinance to e,llow <br /> dancing in the first residential dietriet, Councilman Granger moved, sec- <br /> onded by Couneilman Fletcher, that tne zoning ordinance be allowed to etand <br /> as is, that the matter be dropped Yrom the agenda and action taken only <br /> ' upon complaint of the residents in the immediate vicinity of the dancing <br /> schools.• Councilman Armstrong, under tne question, advised he avould oppoee <br /> .any such action for trie reason that it was not solving the problem in any <br /> way, It wae his opinion that an ordinance wae being niolated and that a <br /> violation of it should not be allowed to continue, It was his contention <br /> � tnat if the council desired to continue the school that the ordinanae <br /> should be amended to allow euch activity, Councilman McNulty agreed with <br /> Councilman Armstrong. Councilman Britschgi was of the opinion•the dancing <br /> school of Misa Roberta should be allowed to continue unt1l such time as <br /> , sne can locate elsewnere. He did not believe such activity ahould be <br /> allowed to.operate iri trie first residential district whicn would be done iY <br /> the ordinance amended. Qouncilman Granger stated ne was in favor of � <br /> , allowing this school to be establiehed in the first residental district <br /> inasmuch ae a public official had allowed this to be extabliehed in error. <br /> Councilman Armstrong aeked for a roll call�vote. 8everal members of the <br /> audience spoke in regard to the matter, the ma�ority of them being in <br /> favor of the school being allowed to continue, On roll call, the following <br /> note was recorded: Apes and in favor of the motion: Councilmen Anderson, <br /> Britscngi, Fletcher and Granger Noes e.nd againet the motion: Council- <br /> man Armatrong and McNulty and Mayor Hilton, � <br /> • Councilman Granger moved abatement proceedinge on the agenda be carried on the <br /> agenda and eliminate those which are no longer in existence, Counailman <br /> Armstrong asked what action the Council intended to take in regard to theae <br /> , proceedings, Councilman Granger expressed the opinion that he was not in <br /> 1 favor of doing anything further until the housing ehortage was relleved, <br /> in which opinion Councilman Fletcher concurred. Councilman Hritschgi moved, <br /> eeconded by Oouncilman Granger, tnat the Rice and Ba.nta abatement proceed- <br /> inga be carried on the agenda until the second meeting in February and the <br /> Hollenbaugh, Buriler, Roberts and Eokerle proceedinga be dropped inasmuch <br /> , , ae tney have been either abated or other action taken. Tne motion pasaed <br /> witn Councilman Armstrong in tne negative. <br /> Oouncilman Fletcher moved, aeconded by Councilman Anderson, that the mayor be <br /> empowered to sign ealary check due to the late Bernard Berriaeque and made <br /> payable to Mrs. Bernard Bernasque� Motion passed unanimously. <br /> � Counciiman Armetrong atated he had read tne taxicab ordinance very carefully <br /> � <br />
