The Fire Department recommended approval of the permit pro- <br /> vided the present entrance door ie hung to ewing outward inetead oP inward, <br /> The Police Department had no unfavorable report of the owners. The Health <br /> Department recommended approval sub�ect to certain improvementa in the kit- <br /> chen and toilet facilities. The applicante were told to contact the Building <br /> , Inspector. City Manager Blom advised that he had inspected the premieee with <br /> Councilman Swift, Councilman VPerder moved, seconded by Councilman,3wiYt� thati , <br /> Lhe permit,be to the recommendatione of the Fire and.Health <br /> Departmenta being complied with, Motion paseed unanimouslq. <br /> Oouncilman Granger was of the opinion that the restaurant ordinance ehould be re- <br /> vised to provide for having a restaurant modernized when it changes ownerehip <br /> � and beliened that the.Health Department ehould bring in an ordinance wlth <br /> etricter provieions than the present one. Counoilman Granger moved, eeoonded <br /> by Councilraan Swift, that the matter be referred to the Qity Manager with the <br /> thought in mind that he contact the necessary authoTities with the idea of <br /> Smproving restaurant conditione in Redwood City. Motion passed unanimouely. <br /> City Manager Hlom reported that several montris ago the Cou�oil had granted a per- <br /> , mit to George Ipsen to conduct a rest home on.Heller Street with the provision <br /> tha� he obtain the neceseary permit to operate such a home from the oounty <br /> and state. It was aesumed that he had done so but upon aomplainte being re- <br /> ceived it was diaconered that he had not. The etate hae ordered the home <br /> . olosed and all patients removed. Mr. Blom believed the Council should re- <br /> soind the permit for euch use of the propertq. He believed in the future <br /> applicants should be required to present permite from the county and state <br /> before being granted a permit from the Council. Uouncilman Armetrong moved, <br /> � aeconded by Councilman YPerder, that tne permit granted George Ipsen for a <br /> reet home be revoked and that he be notified of the Council�e aotion, Motion <br /> paesed unanimously. <br /> Councilman Granger aeked if the City Manager had a report in regard to the parking <br /> meter situa.tion in other cities, City Manager Blom advised that he had not <br /> ' .made a thorough study of thie matter but that he had diecussed it with oity <br /> managera from other cities which do have parking metera and that they had all <br /> reported very favorably upon them, They reported that publio reaction was <br /> very favorable after they had been installed and that the revenue had been <br /> ' greater than had been anticipated and, also, that the parking eituation had <br /> been greatly improved, Counoilman Granger seked if it would be in order to <br /> get bide on the parking metere without taking any definit aetion on the <br /> inetallation of the meters. Gity Manager Hlom believed it ehould be deter- <br /> mined how manq metere will ba needed and where they ehould be plaoed. He <br /> believed that information whould be obtained from the master planner. He <br /> • wae of the opinion that such information could be had by the seoond meeting <br /> � • <br />
