Pipe.for the first portion of the firet development of Redwood
Terrace, .Thoae were the maor proects in the order of pipe. At the time
we received bids from the pipe manufacturera, they agreed to deliver in July
or August some of the 4" and 6" pipe. When the Redwood Terrace project
• developed ratherrapidly, a specia.l request was made that they eupply ue with
i
8" pipe to take care of the exteneion on Woodeide Road. We.were able to get
3600 feet of S" pipe because oY tnis epecial request delivered for this '
epecific project earlier ttian it would have been delivered under the origi-
nal contract, iYe have receined recently 12" pipe and all oP the 4" pipe
and tnere ie on hand some 6" pipe. It wae Mr, Bloms opinion that there ie
uet about eufficient pipe to do the VPoodeide ob and perhape enough to do
' . the extenaion on Oakdale from Y7hipple to Edgewood Road, The balance oY the
8" pipe ie scheduled for delivery in October and Nonember and it was be-
lieved it would be delivered on eohedule. There is sufficient pipe on
order to do all the obe mentioned, Mayor Hilton asked if the water situa-
tion was worse in Edgewood Park area that in other parts of the city. Qity
Manager Hlom advised that other sections of tovm are just ae bad and that
complaints had been received from the Eagle Hill District. In anewer to
. Mayor Hiltons question, City Manager Hlom advised that there wovld be a
saving of between 30 and 60 days in the completion of the Edgewood Road job
if the pipe allocated to.Redwood Terrace were used. •
Mr. Ticer atated that the plan ae submitted to the Board of Underwxiters
called for 8" pipe and no IlO°. City Manager Blom stated that inetead of in-
creaeing tne size of the main in E1 Camino Real, it is being moved to Arch
, Street and a 10" line used inetead of an 8". He believed it uould aYford
Detter protection to buildinga fronting on E1 Camino Real and to the
apartmerit houae area.
Councilman Armstrong was of the opinion that, due to the fact that the sub-
' division wae not qet developed, the pipe should be used in the developed
area. He stated he was aware of the fact that by diverting the pipe there
would be additional cost of tearing up panement in the Redwood Terrace sub-
division at a later date, but he beliened_the primary purpose wa.s to eerve
Lne populated area first, . - •
Councilman McNulty asked if there was any priority for the pipe. City
• Mana.ger Blom replied that there was not. The 8" pipe now on hand, however,
 .
