This <br /> year'e donation will provide a much larger kiln. City Manager Hlom asked the <br /> authority of the Council to buy the kiln when the donation ie received. <br /> Councilman Werder moved, seconded bq Councilman Swift, that the City Manager <br /> be_authorized to purchase the kiln upon receipt of the donation and that he <br /> ' also be instructed to write the Penineula Celebration Aesociation thanking <br /> them for their generous donation. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> City Attorney McCarthy that in regard to the condemnation suit pending for the <br /> recreation center, the Peninsula Celebration Association was ginen permieaion <br /> to conatruct equipment on trie grounda for the 4th of July Rodeo by the <br /> Bairds. This permiasion expired on July 21, 1946, and the attorney for the <br /> • Bairds had indicated that rie is going t,o make a motion to remove the improve- <br /> ments. It was the City Attorney's opinion�that the proper procedure would <br /> be to obtain authority to a.mend the complaint and seek to condemn the land <br /> and a.lso the improvements on the property He stated the improvements donot <br /> belong to the Hairde but that the attorney contends they do inasmuch as they <br /> were not removed before the expiration date of the permit, It was the <br /> ' opinion of tne ma�ority of the Council that the improvemente ehould be re- <br /> moved inasmucn as tney are dangerous and unattractive. After more diacus- <br /> sion, Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the <br /> City Manager be instructed to confer witri the Asaociation on the ways and <br /> means of cleaning up as soon as possible the recreation grounds as far as the <br /> temporary improvements are concerned and to bring back a report, Motion <br /> passed unanimously, <br /> Oouneilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, offered resolution autriori- <br /> • zing amendment to Baird complaint.
