, : . . . 261 � 1945, the Council autriorized the appointment of one additional police officer ' in the Police Department: Examinations have been held and two new police oificers appointed, one filling a vacancp and the other filling the addition- � al appointment. Some of the returning police officers who are veterans are .. returning at a salary higher than that received when they entered the service. Due to that fact and to provide funds for the salary of the additional officer ' it is necessary to transfer funds from the unbudgeted reserve to the police salaries account.
