This suggestion was accepted and included in the motion, <br /> DHotion passed unanimously: 1 <br /> Gi.ty Manager BZom advised that conaidezable difficulty had been encountered in <br /> obtaining applicants for the position of Junior Account Clerk due to the <br /> low salary offered. He recommended that the salary for this position be <br /> fixed at the�present salary for the typist clerk which is �106,25 to 121.25 ' <br /> plus the �27,50 vaar bonus. Councilman Armstrong offered a motion tha.t the <br /> City Attorney be instructed to preaent an amendment to the salary ordinance <br /> to include the recomrnendation of the Gity Ma.nager, The motion was seconded <br /> by Councilman McNulty. Under the question, City Manager Blom asked that <br /> the salaries for the positions of City Engineer, Engineering Assistant and <br /> Engineering Aid also be included in this amendment. Councilman Armstrong • <br /> amended hie motion to include this suggestion. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> Requeat was received from Daniel Stafford to erect a real estate sign at the <br /> corner of Bretivster Avenue and E1 Camino Real, 9' x 5', and back 15' from the <br /> sidewalk, The sign would be left in place for the period the property is up, <br /> for sale. Councilman Armetrong moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that <br /> the permit be granted if the sign erected meets with the approval of the <br /> Building Inspector. Motion passed unanimously. 1 <br /> City Mana.ger Blom subrnitted a project statement for subrnission to the State <br /> Hightvay Department providing for the removal of gutters at the corner of �Jaanes <br /> Avenue a.nd E1 Camino Real. The State has agreed to go ahead tivitn the pro- <br /> �j.ect on a 50-50- basis, The City�s sh�.re v�rill corae from the 1/4¢ gas tax <br /> fund. The tivork calls for installation of two catch basins and running a,n <br /> outlet to the south to the existing large catch basin on the weat side of <br /> the street, Total estimated cost of the project is �3100, of which the city's • <br /> share would be �1550; Councilman Gran�er was of the opinion that the the <br /> State should assume �Lll.obligation for this project.ina.smuch as it was their <br /> error. Mayor Hilton believed the City Manager should attempt to get the <br /> State to either pay all or a greater part of the cost of the project, Coun- <br /> cilman Arm�trong moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the City ' <br /> Manager.be authorized to proceed with.the projeot plan a.nd.that he be in- <br /> structed to see if.he can get a better arrangement than 50-50 with the 8tate. <br /> - Motion passed unanimously. <br /> City Manager Blom advised that �.?r, H, H, 6Yeiner had reo,uested that he be ner ' <br /> mitted to pave 200 feet on B Street from Arguello.Street east, which vrould <br /> acc.ommodate four or five lots which he ovrns on that street, Mr. Blom fur- <br /> �(( ther advised that a property owner from this district ha� asked for infor- <br /> I� <br /> � mat,ion relative to circulating a petition to proceed with the balance of <br /> street work in this vicinity, It was City Manager Blom's opinion that tnis <br /> work should be done.
