07/14/2003 <br /> <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1130-318 <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLES 2, 31, 32 AND 51 OF THE <br /> REDWOOD CITY ZONING CODE RELATED TO ARBORS, TRELLISES <br /> AND SIMILAR OPEN STRUCTURES <br /> <br /> The City Council of Redwood City does ordain as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1. That Article 2 (Definitions) of the Redwood City Zoning Code is hereby <br />amended to add new Sections 2.11.5 (Arbor) and 2.104 (Trellis) to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "2.11.5. Arbor (also see Trellis). <br /> <br /> An accessory structure that is detached from a main or accessory <br /> building, and that is substantially open to the passage of light and air on all sides, <br /> and which has a roof of typical lattice or a roof that is not less than sixty (60) <br /> percent open to the sky at any point across the entire structure. "Substantially <br /> open" sides of the structure shall also be not less than sixty (60) percent open at <br /> any point across each entire side." <br /> <br /> "2.104. Trellis (also see Arbor). <br /> <br /> An accessory structure that is attached to a main or accessory building, <br /> and that is substantially open to the passage of light and air on all sides that do <br /> not abut a main or accessory building, and that has a roof of typical lattice or a <br /> roof that is not less than sixty (60) percent open to the sky at any point across the <br /> entire structure. "Substantially open" sides of the structure shall also be not less <br /> than sixty (60) percent open at any point across each entire side." <br /> <br />Section 2. That Article 31 (Special Provisions) of the Redwood City Zoning Code is <br />hereby amended to add a new Section 31.20 (Arbors and Trellises) to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "31.20 Arbors and Trellises. <br /> <br /> Arbors and trellises, and other open structures, where determined by the <br /> Zoning Administrator to be similar to arbors and trellises, shall be permitted in <br /> residential zoning districts subject to the following height, location and coverage <br /> restrictions: <br /> <br /> A. Arbors and trellises exceeding six (6) feet in height require a Building <br /> permit. <br /> <br /> B.
