The initial apparent low bid of $789,500.00 by <br /> Bay Pacific Pipelines, Inc., was invalidated upon review due to their error when adding <br /> item costs. Bay Pacific Pipelines, Inc. acknowledged the error to city staff and restated <br /> their total bid price as $819,500.00. Shaw Pipeline, Inc. has successfully completed <br /> similar projects in the past and is a qualified contractor. Based on the bids received, <br /> staff believes that the low bid is reasonable and recommends awarding the contract to <br /> Shaw Pipeline, Inc. <br /> Construction is expected to begin at the end of August, 2011, and conclude within 120 <br /> calendar days. The city will give notice to all residents and businesses that might be <br /> affected by the construction. Additionally, the contractor is obligated to notice area <br /> residents and businesses two weeks prior to the start of work on each street and/or two <br /> days prior to any interruption of water service. Signage that contains project information <br /> will be posted at the construction sites and construction updates will be available on the <br /> city's website. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> Council may choose not to award the contract and direct staff to redesign and/or rebid <br /> this project.
