6.1. D. - Page 2
or other agencies. The evaluation criteria were established based on and consistent
with the provisions of Section 2.69 of the City's Municipal Code.
Pump Repair Service Company was deemed the responsible bidder because the firm's
proposal was complete, demonstrated a thorough understanding of the City's needs,
and documented the firm's ability to provide the services by providing comprehensive
pricing estimates for pump, motor, and flap gate repairs, and documenting compliance
with OSHA confined space entry training (the requested copies of certifications
provided), as well. Additionally, Pump Repair Service Company has a long history of
good performance and service to the City of Redwood City for pump maintenance and
repair services.
Staff recommends selection of Pump Repair Service Company of Daly City, California
based on the responsiveness of the proposal and their demonstrated ability to perform
the required services within the parameters established by the City. Further, because
final repair costs, particularly for pumps and motors, is determined only after full
disassembly and inspection, staff is recommending that the City Council authorize the
City Manager to amend the Agreement to cover additional costs up to 10% of the
approved contract value.
ALTERNATIVES
There are no practical alternative to the competitive RFP process completed to obtain a
responsible vendor for these services.
FISCAL IMPACT
The cost of routine maintenance for storm system pump station pumps, motors, and flap
gates is routinely contained in the Public Works Services Department's approved
operating budget each fiscal year.

'L',c , '
,
MARILYN HARANG
ACTING PUBLIC WORKS SERVICES DIRECTOR

ROBERT B.
