EXHIBIT A- BKF 59780 GL
TASK 5: Conceptual Improvements
BKF will identify concept-level corrections for deficiencies noted during the Creek walk
inspections. Where possible, generic concept-level Creek improvements will be selected. At
three locations where significant repair is requ'ved, a site specific repair will be recommended. A
concept cost will be developed for each repa'v site based on generic repa'u and unit cost items
identified in Task 2 and the extent of repair identified in Task 4. Each repair area will be
assigned a site number. A table will be provided that identifies a proposed improvement for each
repa'v site, an associated cost and a priority. Priority will be assigned based on safety risks, risk
ofadditional damage, ease ofrepair and other considerations.
TASK 6: Draft and Final RepoM
BKF will provide a Draft Report that provides a clear rationale for identifying, justifying,
prioritizing, and costing the concept level recommended improvements and provide a basis for
future master plan updates. Following City review, BKF will update the Redwood Creek
Comprehensive Improvement Report.
III. EXCLUSIONS
Development of hydrologic models to evaluate peak flow rates is excluded. To the extent that
there are existing computer models, BKF will utilize these to refine the design flow rates.
A detailed evaluation of all potential failures is exc[uded from the scope of the work. BKF wil]
identify locations where failure is obvious and repair now would be prudent as compazed to
repairing later when conditions either have worsened or would require that repaus be made
during the traditionally rainy season.
At this phase ofthe project, 100-year event design flow water levels and 30 and ]00-year event
overland flow paths will not be included in the analyses. If requested, evaluation of these items
can ba provided as an additional service.
Correcting Creek deficiencies under bridges and to bridge abutments is included in the scope of
work. However, structural review of bridge structures over the Creeks is excluded. If structueal
issues are observed on the bridges during the creek walks, these can be identified as a future
action item for the City. If requested, bridge structural evaluations can be provided as an
additional service.
It is assumed that with coordination of obstructions and potential site access constraints that the
field work necessary to observe the structural conditions can be completed within 80 man-hours.
At this time, we are limiting the structural review to visual inspections that will be performed
without the aid ofany as-built plan data. No excavations or in-situ material testing is included in
the base analysis. If significant structural deficiencies are observed, more in-depth studies and
material testing programs can be performed and implemented as an additional service.
3
