When to Clean the System
8 . How to Clean the StormTrap +
9 . Summary
1. Introduction
The StorrnTrapO Underground S tormwater Detention System is one of the easiest systems to inspect and
maintain because of the open design of the stormwater chambers. All of the areas of the system that are
used to detain and store stormwater are com pletely accessible. torrnTrap does not recommend
utilizing stones around the stormwater detention systern for stormwater storage.
Regular inspections are recommended to assure that the system is functioning as it was designed.
Please call your StormTrap representative if you have questions in regards to the inspection and
maintenance of the StorimTrap system. The StorrnTrap Re for your area can be found
under the °Contact" tab of the S to rmTra pO website www.StormTrap .corn , or 1 - 877 - 867 -6872 and
press "0" for an Administrative Assistant.
2. Dry Detention Systems
The tormTrap System is used to collect stormwater and detain it for a period of time. The release rate
is determined by local building and environmental codes. The system is designed to reduce downstream
flooding after a stormwater event. This is the same concept that is used to design above ground
stormwater detention ponds. Underground detention is utilized in place of detention ponds to allow for
additional development such as parting lots, public pans, highways, buildings, etc.
3. wet Detention Water Quality) Systems
S ome of the StormTrap@ Systems are designed to have a permanent pool of water in the system. This
pool of water is designed to remove and collect some of the small solid particles from the stormwater.
These pools shall be cleaned as needed, but at least annually, to ensure they meet their intended design.
4 . Inspection Schedules for Municipalities
The StormTrap Storrnwater Detention System should be inspected whenever the upstream and
downstream etch basins and storrnwater pipes of the stormwater collection system are inspected or
maintained, but not less than annually. This will economize the cost of the inspection if it is done at the
same time the Municipal crews are visiting the area.
SINGLE G EF THE PRECAS PRE rAD VA N r E!
