7.A. - Page 57
ATTACHNNT 3
issues: to bring housing closer to where people work, and to help alleviate congestion on
the local roads and freeways. He stated the project would do both. He stated that a
quality project such as this would help that area of EI Camino and that area of the city.
John Anagnostou spoke and noted that it is rare to find land that would work for this type
of development, and it is a good step to move in that direction. We do not need more
commercial property. He spoke about the Woodside Road project that did not work as
owner occupied condominiums but does work well as a rental project, and are such high
quality units that all were filled within two months. He stated that there might be a way to
mitigate the sign, such as implementing into the landscaping a commemorative marker
that represents its location.
Fred Schernik spoke about the parking space in the proposed project. He noted there
would be 232 parking spaces for 141 units, which means 1.7 parking spaces per unit.
He noted that some units have multiple bedrooms so it seems that there would be more
than one car to be parked. He stated that people mostly use their car and the comments
on public transport are wishful.
M/S (Schmidt/Radcliffe) to close the Public Hearing
Motion Passed
Commissioner Schmidt asked how many turnkeys there would be.
Ms. Breeze replied that there would be two, with an additional eight prepped.
Commissioner Schmidt asked how many amps that would be.
Ms. Breeze stated that they would be 30 amps each.
Commissioner Schmidt noted that the turnkeys would take quite a while to charge a car,
and would not make sense. He stated that not having the turnkeys would free up the
parking spaces more quickly. He asked what would be the compatibility of the sign with
the grand boulevard.
Ms. Riordan stated that there would be a more complete response to that in the final
EIR, but generally speaking the grand boulevard will be more pedestrian with lots of
connectivity as well as upgraded aesthetically. She noted that the grand boulevard
vision would not have buildings with large front setbacks and lots of surface parking in
front of the buildings.
Commissioner Schmidt asked if she would be open to the idea of a plaque in place of
the sign.
Ms. Riordan replied yes.
Commissioner Schmidt asked if Commissioner Holt, who sits on the Historical Advisory
Commission, would have any comments.
Chair Borgens noted that she did not receive any but that she was going to send her
comments in.
