6.1.C. - Page 2
The proposed agreement with RHAA will provide design development, public outreach,
construction documents, bid and construction support, and construction administration
services for the Mezes and Jardin de Ninos Parks Renovation Project. Community
outreach in both the Mezes and Jardin de Ninos neighborhoods is planned to gather
ideas, achieve consensus on improvements and to keep the community apprised of the
progress of the design and construction. Approximately 60% of the cost of this
agreement is for services related to the Mezes Park renovation and 40% for services
related to the Jardin de Ninos Park renovation.
ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to approve the design services agreement with RHAA, and
direct staff to renegotiate the terms or select another consultant.
FISCAL IMPACT
Available funds total approximately $833,000 for the design and construction of
improvements at both parks, which exceeds the estimated cost of design and
construction of $752,524. Funds have been previously approved and appropriated in
the Capital Projects Fund as Play Equipment Replacement Program which has an
available balance of $27,000, Restroom Replacement Program which has a balance of
$200,000, Jardin de Ninos which has a balance of $200,000, and Mezes Parks
Renovation which has a balance of $406,000. Balances are approximate and as of
August 30, 2011
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The proposed project is categorically exempt under the California Environmental Quality
Act (CEQA) because it is limited to the repair and renovation of existing facilities.
(CEQA Guidelines s. 15301, Existing Facilities)
r
,

S.
