The proposed project will <br />create an important link for bicyclists and pedestrians traveling from the foothills to <br />downtown and eventually, to bayside trail amenities. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Council may choose not to accept funding from MTC and direct staff to seek other <br />funding sources. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />MTC will provide $107,640.00 in grant funds and the city is required to provide matching <br />funds in the amount of $46,130.00. Matching funds are approximately 30% of the total <br />estimated cost of the proposed Brewster Avenue Bicycle Improvements Project. Funds <br />for the city's matching obligation are currently available from Bicycle /Pedestrian <br />Enhancement Program(s) in the Fiscal Year 2011 -2012 budget. The Gas Tax <br />Construction Fund has a balance of $44,320.00 (after fund transfer) and the Traffic <br />Mitigation Fees Fund has a balance of $49,274.93 available for bike /ped projects. <br />Balances are as of August 31, 2011. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br />The proposed project is categorically exempt under the California Environmental Quality <br />Act (CEQA) because it is limited to the repair and renovation of existing facilities. <br />(CEQA Guidelines s. 15301, Existing Facilities) <br />S.
