MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />A. City Council Member Report of Conference /Meeting Attendance <br />Council Member Pierce announced that this Saturday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. there will <br />be Fiestas Patrias at Courthouse Square, and this is in partnership with our Sister City <br />Redwood City International. All are invited and it promises to be a great event. <br />Council Member Bain attended the first Lebanese festival at the CAB (Community <br />Activities Building) and he said there were thousands of people. The food and the <br />entertainment were great and his hope is that they do it again next year. <br />Council Member Gee said SAMTRANs is holding a Public Hearing on the 14 at 3:00 <br />p.m. and they will be reviewing certain proposals a local day pass and to adopt the <br />clipper card. <br />Vice Mayor Aguirre attended a conference in Santa Clara as a panelist regarding the <br />one million new internet users and how we close the achievement gap. She enjoyed <br />meeting companies and users and learning about ways to keep up with the demand of <br />new technologies. <br />B. City Manager (Oral) Update <br />Mr. Brian Ponty announced the upcoming Salsa festival on September 24 from noon to <br />8:00 p.m. He also noted that the Port of Redwood City will be bringing to the market <br />bonds and Mr. Ponty will serve as the City liaison on the matter. The Port will be <br />reimbursing the City for the time he spends on this special project. <br />10. ADJOURNMENT — M/S Foust /Seybert to adjourn at 7:55 p.m. in memory of <br />Robert Allen Morse a long time Redwood City resident after a 33 -year law enforcement <br />carrier in San Mateo County.
