C. - Page 4 <br />AGREEMENT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />AND <br />THE SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />FOR SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM <br />This Agreement is made and entered into this day of 20_, <br />by and between the City of Redwood City ( "City ") and the Sequoia Union High <br />School District ( "District ") (collectively, the "Parties "). <br />RECITALS <br />This Agreement is entered into with reference to the following facts and <br />circumstances: <br />A. Since the year 2000, CITY has provided a School Resource Officer at Sequoia High <br />School, who is involved in a variety of activities that enhance safety on campus and <br />provide a positive police presence, increasing the Police Department's ability to <br />serve the needs of the entire Redwood City community; and <br />B. Sequoia High School District agrees to partially fund the School Resource <br />Officer's salary during the nine months when school is in session. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the collaborative agreements <br />herein contained, the sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, the Parties hereto <br />agree as follows: <br />1. Term and Termination. The term of this Agreement shall be for a period <br />beginning on July 1, 2011 and ending June 30, 2012. <br />2. Obligation of City. During the term of this Agreement, City hereby <br />covenants and agrees to the following: <br />A. Assign one (1) peace officer ( "School Resource Officer") to Sequoia <br />Union High School for the term of this Agreement. The deployment, control, <br />supervision and duties of the School Resource Officer are under the sole control <br />and discretion of the City's Chief of Police. <br />B. The School Resource Officer's typical work week is ten (10) hours <br />per day, Tuesday through Friday, for a total of forty (40) hours per week, <br />excluding recognized school holidays. Notwithstanding the above, the School <br />Resource Officer's schedule may be modified by City on a day -to -day basis <br />based on emergency situations, sick leave, court appearances, required training <br />days and such other special requirements of the City.
