The committee discussed potential properties on certain streets where boundaries are clearly defined. Ms. Eakin stated that she felt it would be best to have a smaller district with more defined character (i.e. less is more). Ms. Eakin also felt that the jog on Arch Street should not be included within the boundaries, and the cut-off should be at Brewster. Ms. Jabba asked about the location of the historical boundary of Mt. Carmel. Mr. Jany stated the City has maps to indicate the historical boundary. Ms. Eakin discussed whether to start the historic district with the most historic or most compromised to try to save. Ms. Holt suggested having a larger district with a sense of time and feeling for defining a district. Mr. Jany noted that he can provide the committee with an aerial photo of the buildings in the 1930's. Ms. Holt encouraged the committee to look at a larger boundary area and include the Mt. Carmel School and/or church within the boundary. Chair Rolandelli noted that he is struggling with including Duane and Clinton Streets within the district; but, he felt that there should be a high ratio such as 2/3 properties that are potential historic buildings. Additionally, it was noted that Fulton Street shall be included within the district between James and Katherine Streets. Ms. Jabba stated that the committee needs to know the cut-off historic eras to be considered. Chair Rolandelli noted that it may be best to have a consultant review the potential boundaries. Ms. Holt stated that for the south boundary, Katherine Street is possible and homes constructed prior to 1930 as the cut-off; as well as, extending the boundary to Katherine Street and also Iris to Lowell Street and including the Mt. Carmel Church and school. Chair Rolandelli suggested the committee go out and evaluate the area again and then let a consultant review and evaluate the area that the committee has agreed upon. Mr. Jany gave a brief overview of the periods of types of homes from 1900's to 1930's. Ms. Eakin asked if the committee needs to define the boundaries of the district based on the committee's recommendation. Ms. Jabba noted that it would be best if the committee went out in a van to conduct an evaluation together. 8. Adjournment M/S: (Jabba/Holt) Motion passed 4-0
