6.1.A. - Page 1 <br /> RE PO RT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> January 9, 2012 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Award of Contract — Stulsaft Park Road Repairs Project <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve, by motion, the contract documents and award the standard form contract for <br /> the Stulsaft Park Road Repairs Project to McNabb Construction Inc. of Lafayette for <br /> their responsive and responsible low base bid of $107,828.00 and authorize the City <br /> Manager to increase the contract amount, if necessary, up to 10% of the amount <br /> awarded. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Stulsaft Park is a 42-acre park with unpaved maintenance/fire roads. Heavy rains have <br /> eroded road sections over the years, which may prevent access by maintenance and <br /> safety vehicles. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> The project scope includes removing unsuitable trees and vegetation, re-grading <br /> drainage ditches, installing new drainage inlets, constructing new retaining walls in two <br /> locations, and placing new rock rip rap to minimize future erosion. <br /> The project was publicly bid through a notice in the Dailv Journal and for twenty-one days <br /> on the City's website. Nine (9) bids were received on November 23, 2011.
