6.1.A. - Page 2 <br /> the design engineer's cost of the retaining wall was underestimated by approximately <br /> $10,000. McNabb Construction, Inc. has recently completed a similar type project this <br /> past summer in the Bay Area. Staff recommends awarding the contract to McNabb <br /> Construction Inc., as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder and authorizing an <br /> increase up to 10% of the award amount for contingency. <br /> Construction is expected to begin the first week of February and conclude in May 2012, <br /> depending on weather. Construction updates will be available on the city's website. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> Council may choose not to award the proposed contract and direct staff to reject all <br /> bids, or redesign the project, and/or offer this project again for public bid. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> The total project cost is estimated at $135,000. Project costs include construction and <br /> contingency (10%), testing services, design support, staff costs.
