Anniversary of the Redwood City Women's Club and she thoroughly enjoyed the
program. This Council Member found Mr. Bautista's comments very disturbing and
concerning. She went on the County of San Mateo's public index and the two cases he
had were dismissed so the city was not liable or at fault for what he was alleging. She
would like to have Council provide a response and because in her opinion this was
hurting the Council's reputation.
City Attorney Thompson said that Mr. Bautista had past and current litigation and it
might be useful to correct some of his misstatements. This Council Member also
mentioned the other man who spoke about the parking ticket.
Dr. Bell provided some background on this particular issue and said that he could come
back to this forum with more information on the parking ticket. He was looking forward
to coming back with clarifying information. Mayor Ira said that he had been aware of this
matter and it was a clear legal determination so he did not think there was a need for
follow-up. Dr. Bell would prefer to bring this back for the benefit of the public.
-Vice Mayor Aguirre reported that she attended the League of Women Voters luncheon
where Warren Slocum was honored. She also attended the San Mateo Commission on
Aging meeting, introduced Zoppe Circus, and was at the grand opening of The Old
Spaghetti Factory
B. City Manager (Oral) Update
Dr. Bell noted that there was an Economic Development Report and Action Plan and
staff would come back and report at the Dec. 12, 2011 meeting. He thanked Council
Members Ira, Foust and Gee who were members of that Economic Development
subcommittee for their inputs.
He also noted that staff was looking at the current environment initiatives and the two
members in the subcommittee were Council Members Bain and Pierce who were
looking at a Climate Protection Initiative and how this would be coming back to Council.
He announced that on this Wednesday there would be a management meeting to focus
on a few initiatives and adaptive change models. He expected this to come before
Council via a report in 2012. Dr. Bell hoped to announce his appointment of the Chief of
Police prior to Thanksgiving.
9. ADJOURN - M/S Seybert/Gee to adjourn at 9:30 p.m. in memory of a Rolland
Edward Giannini.
