(b) . - An application has been made to the Federal Aviation Administration for
its review pursuant t o Federal Aviation a u lations Part 77
Subpart (FAA
Form 7460• 1, "Notice of Proposed Construction or Alteration") and the C will
require the applicant to comply with all appropriate recommendations.
3.10.15 Potential Effect Construction of the Project could expose people to frequent
and/or high levels of aircraft noise.
Findings The City hereby males .Irmd *n (1).
.__. .... ..
Facts in Surt of Findings
(a) Airport noise concerns are normally directed at residential land uses.
Office and coanniereial uses are generally deemed compatible with all but the
highest noise levels.
(b) The Project is located within the CNEL 5.5 --60 dB noise contour for the
Airport. Business and profe ssional uses are considere comp atible with noise
levels up to CNEL 70 dB.
(c) The l o -story building will not reflect or othe rwise increase aircraft noise in
res .ldental areas.
3.10.16 Potential Effect When operating in the Airport traffic pattern, pilots seeking to
avoid Project office buildings .might tend to operate their aircraft further to the
east. Pilots also might choose, for safety reasons., to avoid the ro`ect area b
P . y
flying farther out. Both of these circumstances might create
an increase in noise
over residential areas in.Redwood. Shores, This would affect citizens m the
]Belmont Channel area and along Bridge Parkway.
Findino The City hereby makes finding (1)J,
Facts in= pPnrt. of Fin&g s
(a) The analyses conducted in order to evaluate safety issues concluded that
the 10-story building is not an obstruction to air navi g ation. Therefor aircraft
will not have to avoid it by flying around the building and over existin res
g
.areas. As a result, noise levels from aircraft will not increase in these residential
areas.
(b) The location of the l o -story office building would not require aircr 0.
the traffic pattern to fly their downwind leg further east, thereby ovie noise
y g
further into Redwood Shores residential areas. The loca of the builds is
g
-28-
D
5/30/9610:51.AM
