City Clerk �/onderlinden requested nominations for the position of Mayor of <br /> Redwood City. Council Member Foust nominated Vice Mayor Aguirre for the position of <br /> Mayor of Redwood City. There were no additional nominations. City Clerk Vonderlinden <br /> asked for a motion to close the nomination period. <br /> M/S Seybert/Gee to close the nomination period for the position of Mayor. Motion <br /> carries unanimously by voice vote. <br /> MINUTE ORDER 11-188 <br /> City Clerk �/onderlinden announced that the new Mayor of Redwood City is Alicia <br /> Aguirre. The new Mayor took the center seat at the dais. <br /> 8. CALL TO ORDER BY THE NEWLY SELECTED MAYOR <br /> A. Nominations and selection of Vice Mayor for a two-year term, <br /> conducted by the Mayor MINUTE ORDER 11 <br /> Mayor Aguirre requested a nomination for Vice Mayor of Redwood City. <br /> Council Member Ira nominated Jeff Gee for Vice Mayor. <br /> Council Member Ira spoke highly of Council Member Gee and how hard he has worked <br /> these last two years and his determination to do the right thing for Redwood City. <br /> M/S Ira/Seybert to close the nomination period. Motion carries unanimously by voice <br /> vote. Mayor Aguirre announced the new Vice Mayor of Redwood City is Jeffrey Gee. <br /> B. Comments by Council Members, newly selected Vice Mayor, and <br /> Mayor <br /> Council Member Foust started by congratulating the new Mayor and congratulated her <br /> new colleagues who got re-elected as well as the community for voting for her. She <br /> noted that she takes this job very seriously and the oath is a very meaningful act for her. <br /> Council Member Foust thanked her family present including Bill Royer, Jack Greenalch <br /> and Jim Hartnett who served on prior Councils. She also thanked other family members <br /> that included her daughters and nieces. <br /> Council Member Pierce followed by offering congratulations to the new Mayor and she <br /> thanked the friends and family who supported her like Georgi La Berge and Dick Claire, <br /> as well as her husband, mother, daughters and others. This Council Member <br /> highlighted topics in the community that need focus and to be worked on like schools, <br /> seniors, supporting the arts, and transportation issues. She invited the community to be <br /> part of these initiatives and she thanked the community for its vote of confidence. <br /> Council Member Bain also congratulated his colleagues on the re-election. He thanked <br /> all his supporters including his family (Zack and Veronica) and Robbie and his father <br /> David who has done a great deal to support him.
