Mayor Gasparini presented Certificates of Appreciation to participants in the <br /> very successful "Silent Night" program initiated by Redwood City Sergeant <br /> Frank Wilkins and assisted by the Department and other City staff; and most <br /> importantly, involvement and support from the neighborhoods, members of <br /> SCARES (ham radio operators), local organizations like Latino Focus, and <br /> Council Members. The goal of the "Silent Night" program was to eliminate the <br /> random gunfire that occurs every New Year's Eve which creates a very <br /> dangerous and frightening situation in the neighborhoods. Letters were sent to <br /> the media thanking them for publicizing this important program. (207) <br /> <br /> <br />
