ORDINANCE No. 2371 OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AMENDING <br /> SECTION 32.75 OF THE REDWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL CODE TO INCREASE <br /> THE TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX ON RENT CHARGED TO HOTEL <br /> GUESTS FROM TEN PERCENT (10%) TO TWELVE PERCENT (12%) <br /> 3. Accept the Charter Amendment that will be incorporated into the City <br /> Charter and filed with the Secretary of State and was approved by the <br /> voters. <br /> CITY CHARTER AMENDMENT PROVIDING CITY WITH AUTHORITY SIMILAR <br /> TO GENERAL LAW CITIES TO ACQUIRE AND DISPOSE OF REAL AND <br /> PERSONAL PROPERTY MINUTE ORDER 11-187 <br /> 7. CITY COUNCIL RE-ORGANIZATION CONDUCTED BY CITY CLERK <br /> A. Swearing in New Council Members by City Clerk and presentation of <br /> Certificates of Election to newly elected Council Members: Aguirre, <br /> Bain, Foust and Pierce <br /> City Clerk Vonderlinden performed the oath of office for each of the re-elected Council <br /> Members. They were sworn in individually, signed the Oath of Office and were each <br /> handed Certificates of Election. <br /> Mayor Ira thanked Ms. Vonderlinden for her dedication and her protection of the Council <br /> especially the Mayor's office. He noted the following items they collaborated on: photo <br /> gallery and iPads and how he valued her dedication. He also thanked Vice Mayor <br /> Aguirre for her stepping in when needed and for her continued support during these last <br /> two years. Mayor Ira thanked the Council for its support and the willingness to show a <br /> united front. He then thanked City Attorney Thompson for her sound legal input <br /> especially on the jail issue. He appreciated her enabling capability. Mayor Ira thanked <br /> Dr. Bell and his staff for all the help and he appreciates his leadership on numerous <br /> items. Mayor Ira appreciated that Dr. Bell delivered on so many fronts and appreciates <br /> how he has had the courage to make the organizational changes Council wanted. He <br /> thanked his family for all the sacrifices and appreciates their support. <br /> All Council Members thanked Mayor Ira for his service and dedication. They <br /> complimented him on his leadership, knowledge, honesty, motivation and kindness. <br /> One Council Member shared applicable quotes from Abraham Lincoln. Other Council <br /> Member reminisced when he first met Jeff Ira for the first time and how he always <br /> shows courage and determination. <br /> Vice Mayor Aguirre presented outgoing Mayor with a proclamation that outlined all the <br /> initiatives and committees he served on. She acknowledged all the dedication he has <br /> shown during these last two years. She also presented the outgoing Mayor with a <br /> plaque that includes his gavel as Mayor. Vice Mayor Aguirre, also presented Mayor Ira <br /> with a token of appreciation on behalf of the City Council.
