The material will <br /> emphasize the campaign's serious, aggressive enforcement and the high cost of DUI in terms of money, <br /> e~. 'hal consequences and human misery. The PIX) will coordinate and hold a kickoffpress conference <br /> each holiday, perioct <br /> <br /> The PID will begin daily reporting of statistics to the San Marco County Times and be on 24-hour call to <br /> answer press inquiries, issuing eight media stories detailing daily accomplishments. Report to California Highway Patrol for Bay <br /> Area wide press release. <br /> <br /> Enforcement, (Dec. 14, 2001 through Sept. 2, 2002 and Dec. 13, 2002 to September 1, 2003) <br /> Police departments will carry out enforcement in accordance with operational plans developed for each <br /> campaign period. These include sobriety checkpoints, forming special teams, adjusting patrol hours to <br /> coincide with prime DUI times and emphasizing DUI enforcement with officers on regular patrol. <br /> <br /> Phase 3 - DUI Seminar (To be conducted by March 31 of each grant year) <br /> <br /> DUI enforcement strategies will be disseminated during a DUI seminar for enforcement and other traffic <br /> sa/ety professionals. The seminar will provide the oppormuity to exchange information between <br /> agencies, provide speakers addressing the latest technology and methods, and future program planning. <br /> In addition, awards will be presented to officers who demonstrated outstanding enforcement <br /> achievements during the campaigns. <br /> <br /> Phase 4 - Data Collection & Analysis (Dec. 2001 through Sept. 2002 and Dec. 2002 and Sept. 2003) <br /> <br /> Statistical data relating to the project goals and objectives collected, analyzed and incorporated into the <br /> Quarterly and Final Reports by police depa~uaent representatives.
