incorporated in such ordinance. she outlined the various initiatives she would l ike the City <br />to pursue and in particular she requested that the Council: adopt the US Green Building <br />Council's LEED checklists for all non - residential and mixed -arse buildings, 2 require a <br />complete "Built It Green Greenpoint Checklist" for planning/building permits for remodels <br />and n permits and, 3 ) adopt a policy that requires LEED certification for city -owned <br />construction. <br />William Bucholz, said that while a member of the Cool Cities team, he is -speaking as an <br />architect who has provided DEED training for the last five years throughout the state. He <br />provided details on how the City can become LEED certified. Mr. B ucholz added that while <br />there is a goal to go green, there are different shades of green. He asked for some mild <br />standards to be implemented in the very near future. <br />Foster Kinney addressed Council on the issue of communications. Mr. Kinney attended <br />one of the Community Input sessions but he found out about it through the newspaper. - e <br />would have enjoyed getting information from the City and not via the newspaper. He made <br />comments about the information provided to Council that summarized the public input <br />provided at the meeting he attended. He opined that itemization in the reporting would have <br />been useful to Council. He appreciated the opportunity to attend the Community Input <br />,session. <br />Mayor Foust acknowledged the letter Mr. Kinney sent her regarding his communications <br />with the city. she has directed the City Clerk to contact him. she thanked Mr. Kinney for <br />his desire to stay involved. <br />John Dempsey, Chair of the Human services sub Committee of the Housing and Hunan <br />Services Committee, spoke about the job market in Redwood City. He suggested that <br />creating jobs in Redwood City become a Council p riority. H e referred to statistics from the <br />Californian Employment Development Department and the 2000 Census, and hover it shows <br />that jobs held by Redwood City residents have dropped. He supports engaging the services <br />of a professional in the area of economic development. <br />ent. <br />Stacey Quezada posed questions regarding input provided at the Community Input session <br />on transportation and traffic. she asked hover the numbers on the spreadsheet reflected the <br />votes taken by the people at the meeting she attended. <br />Mr. Ingram provided details on hoer the table summarized the inputs (the numbers were <br />converted to percentages). He explained that staff distilled the comments made and that <br />the attendees were told this was going to happen. The interim City Manager ger offered to re- <br />examine this methodology. <br />Ms. Quezada said that her issues were related to pedestrian safety and the need for a dog <br />park.
