Approve warrants dated through February 11, 2008 and usual and necessary <br />payments through February 25, 200 8. (303) MO-08-022 <br />The three Council Members retumed to the dais. <br />Mayor Foust reiterated the items that were approved via the Consent Calendar by <br />reading the titles of each action, including the resolutions and ordinances. <br />Oral Communications E, <br />cri tina Thorson addressed the Council regarding library programs. In particular, Ms. <br />Thorson elaborated on a recent author. (Francisco Jimenez) who presented his work <br />and signed books to a full audience. ills. Thorson said this was a well- attended evert <br />and she was appreciative of the partnership with Hoover School. Principal Lary, with <br />Hoover School, also expressed his pride in this partnership. <br />Marianne Hoxie said that she had called the City Clerk and she is hoping for some <br />answers that she has not gotten regarding housing and health insurance. Ms. Hoxie <br />spoke about rental increases in her building and she wants to know what the laver on the <br />issue of rent control is. She spoke abort her health insurance provider not coming to <br />Redwood City. <br />Mayor Foust asked the City Attorney to comment. city Attorney Y amamoto said that <br />the City does not have rent control. Mayor Foust encouraged Ms. roxie to <br />communicate with City clerk Vonderlinden, Ills. Debbi Jones - Thomas and possibly Ills. <br />Teri Chia, the Human Services Manager, to get assistance on her inquiries. <br />7. MATTERS of COUNCIL NT R ST <br />A. Legislation (information only) - This sub - section involves possible discussion of <br />City Position on Proposed Legislation described in the League of California Cities <br />Priority Focus Bulletin No. -2008 and 5 -2008. Council may direct staff to act on <br />positions taken by Council. (Copies of League of California Cities Priority Focus <br />available in city Clerk's Department). <br />B. Presentation on the Fort of Redwood City. <br />The Fort's Executive f irector, Michael Giari, presented an overview of its <br />operations. H e explained this is a landlord port, Erich means the property is leased <br />to other users that use it for marine shipping and industrial purposes.
