that the Port is a revenue- producing department of the City and it functions without <br />any assistance from the City (presentation on file'). He highlighted projects the Port <br />is working on such as the proposed ne w Ferry Service and how the Port is <br />collaborating with the rely created Water Emergency Transportation Authority. <br />C. Joint Meeting of the City Council and the Port of Redwood City. <br />Mayor Foust announced that the Chair of the Port Commission would not be present <br />due to health issues. City Clerk Vo nderfinden did the roll call for the Port of Redwood <br />City, All Commissioners were present with the exception o Lewis Miller, Chairperson. <br />Mayor Foust made some introductory remarks. Mr. Bell, Assistant City Manager ger and <br />the facilitator, introduced the agenda for the evening (presentation ton on file). <br />Each commissioner shared the importance and length of service on the Fort <br />Commission. i sion. Subsequently, Vice Chairperson Dodge provided an overview. of the Port <br />Commission and its charter. <br />Public Comment <br />Greg Greenway, with Seaport Industrial Association, offered comments regarding the <br />Port Charter. Mr. Greenway found this joint meeting beneficial. He spoke about the <br />Port's value being the largest recycling center in the entire Bay area and being a multi- <br />modal commercial transit oriented hub. He mentioned issues such as the availability of <br />land, lease terms, investment ent and infrastructure as well as long- range market <br />opportunities. He is proud that Redwood City is a leader and champion of adaptive <br />change. <br />Glen Molony, congratulated the work done by the Charter Ad Hoc committee, and he is <br />pleased that people speak positively of the Port. He believes this area of the City, <br />including Lyngso and the Port, illustrates smart gro wth. It is his opinion that companies <br />ire that area are modernizing and investing in new technologies. He is proud that many <br />of the people at the table have business expertise. <br />Mark Sanders spoke in support of continuing uing the dialogue between the City Council and <br />the Port. He opined that the City should consider the waterfront as an extension of <br />Redwood City. He said that Redwood City has nine marinas and this is the most any <br />city has in the Bay Area.
