Brian Poty, Finance Director, presented the report saying that six letters of <br />protest were received out of 18,000 notices that were .malled oat. He <br />provided details on the change in the rate structure (slide presentation on <br />file). He explained the difference between the various rate structures and its <br />4 <br />implications for the consumer. <br />Mayor Foust opened the public hearing. There was no public comment. <br />M/S Ira. /Pierce/ to close the public hearing. Motion carries unanimously <br />b roll call vote. <br />Council Member Howard asked if any of the protests were related to financial <br />hardship. Finance Director Ponty responded that was not the case. <br />Recommendation: <br />It is recommended that the City Council approve by resolution a 5% increase in the <br />overall revenue requirement ent for Allied Waste Industries, the City's franchised waste <br />hauler, effective February 12, 2008 and approve the implementation of <br />progressive rate structure for commercial subscribers. For typical residential <br />customers who have one 32-gallon container iner picked up once a week, , the increase <br />will amount to $0.19 per month. (805) <br />Ids Hartnett/Howard to approve the resolution. Motion carries unanimously <br />b roll call vote. <br />RESOLUTION 14841 ESTABLISHING RATES OF CHARGES FOR SANITARY <br />INSPECTIONS, COLLECTIONS RECYCLING AND REMOVAL OF REFUSE IN THE CITY <br />F REDWOOD CITY. <br />C. 2007 Citizens Option for Public Safety (COPS) grant funds for the Redwood City <br />Police Department. <br />Dan Mulholland, Police Sergeant, presented the report and explained how <br />the Bands will be distributed. He provided information regarding the public <br />notice. <br />Mayor Foust opened the public hearing. There was no public comment. <br />t. <br />/S Howard /Aguirre to close the public hearing.
