. Modify Annulus where pipe goes through pier caps (for example, fill with suitable
restraining material, either flexible or semi-rigid). Note: any option that includes
"rigid" type supports will need to also address the potential for bridge
deformations / settlements, to make sure there is a combined-compatible
upgrade.
. Modify bridge
. Install new parallel pipe. This may be a self-supporting pipe over the water
channel; or an encased / trenchless pipe under the water channel.
The "install new parallel pipe" options may be suitable if it is found that the bridge
weakness and needed upgrade is more costly than the installation of a new pipe.
Consultant will write a short letter report with the existing system evaluation, as well as
sketches of the proposed pipe modifications, and submit it to RWC. Consultant will meet
with RWC to discuss possible design / retrofit options. ConsultanYs work scope below is
based on the assumption that modification of the existing pipe / pipe supports is both
technically suitable, and will be adopted; should upgrade of the bridge or a new pipe
option be chosen, then the additional effort to design the new pipe (or bridge upgrades
wili be an optional task).
Consultant will then develop and submit the 50% design submittal. This will include the
following drawings (see Table 2): site plan (established from existing drawings); pipe
profile (established from existing drawings); pipe support details. Consultant will include
a list of technical specifications, and a cost estimate consistent with the 50% design.
The City will provide Consultant with comments. Comments which require new design
concepts and substantial new work should be provided based on the 50% submittal.
Consultant will then develop the 90% design submittal. This will include all drawings
(likely 3 sheets); technical specifications; cost estimate; draft calculations. This package
is meant to be essentially complete. The City will provide Consultant with comments;
intended to be primarily editorial in nature.
Consultant will then update the contract documents to reflect comments; incorporate
with other items (Tasks 1, 2, 3). Consultant will then issue the 100% contract
documents (drawings and specifications). Consultant will provide stamped calculations.
Consultant will provide the final engineer's estimate.
Facility Number of Potential Drawing List for Contract Documents
Drawin s
Pipe Bridge 3 Site layout and general notes: 1 sheet.
