4IE2
portion of the street at no cost to Redwood City. These improvements were
identified as San Carlos' mitigation for traffic as identified in the Redwood Shores
Traffic Improvement Study. Sidewalks will be constructed on both side of the street.
3. The locations of these properties are not of reap benefit to Redwoc.d City, but do
help to create an entry to the Airport and businessEs in San Carlos. It 's logical that
San Carlos improve and maintain these three small parcels.
4. The sign design has changed to be more conforming to the existing signs in
Redwood Shores. The sign will be similar yet distinct for San Carlos.
5. The "detachment" and "annexation" proceedings may take time to finalize, following
the required hearings. This Agreement allows the improvements to be installed
now, while these parcels are still located within Redwood City.
Alternatives
Redwood City could retain the properties for its own use. The maintenance of the
property would remain with Redwood City.
Fiscal Impacts
There is no fiscal impact to the City with the approval of the Agreement. If it is not
approved, Redwood City would eventually have to improve a portion of Airport Way to
fix the drainage problem.
r D-7
bef Patterson
/ M nager, ngineering & Construction
Ed Everett
City Manager
t Z
Bruce Liedstrand
Community Development Services Director
JP:ss
S /library/joellCouncil ReportaiAgreemenLImprovements of Skyway Road & Airport Way
