CITY OF REDWOOD CITY 6.3.A. - Page 8 <br />FIRE MARSHAL (Continued) <br />Operate a motor vehicle safely. <br />Effectively communicate orally and in writing. <br />Evaluate the effectiveness of personnel, administrative systems and Fire <br />Prevention operations. <br />Experience and Training Guidelines: <br />Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required <br />knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the <br />knowledge, skills and abilities would be. <br />Experience: <br />Four years of professional fire protection, design review and code <br />enforcement experience and four years experience at the management <br />level, including supervision of staff. <br />Training: <br />Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or <br />university with major course work in management, fire protection or <br />related fields. <br />License or Certificate: <br />Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license. <br />Fire Marshal Certification from the State of California is highly desirable. <br />Special Requirements: <br />Essential duties require the following physical abilities and work environment: <br />Ability to work in a standard office environment with ability to sit, stand, walk, <br />kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach; exposure to outdoors, heat, confining work <br />space, electrical and chemical hazards and dust. <br />Ability to visit and move about construction sites, fire scenes, and emergency <br />sites to evaluate investigation activities. <br />4 <br />
